We sometimes feel misery, sadness, loneliness, tired from life or a fear of failure in our life at certain point of time which create a stress in our brain. These feelings of sadness more don’t usually last longer than a week or two, and they don’t interfere too much with our lives, which is only a mental stress for short period. Sometimes there’s a reason, sometimes not. We usually cope – we may talk to a friend but don’t otherwise need any help.

However, in depression your feelings don’t lift after a few days, but infact they carry on. Second these feelings are so bad that they interfere with our life activities and routine and make a person completely paralyzed after which a depressed person finds himself like in a cage or clutches which make around him tighter. These reasons of this worse disease may be due to many reasons which effects the life and our normal activities, it ends  up the happiness, joys and pleasure, interest with the family and friends all creates loneliness, carelessness, blues and fear, including suicidal actions.

 

How depression affects life and ways to deal with it

The Singer/songwriter/political activist Bob Geldof revealed in an interview recently that he thought of suicide following his divorce from his wife of almost ten years, Paula Yates.

“When she left me I was destroyed,” said Geldof.  “I didn’t understand why. I never saw it coming.”

The depression got so bad, said the former Boomtown Rats singer, that at one point he even made a list of all the pros and cons of living versus dying.  “There was only one item in the list for why I should continue, it just said, ‘The children’.”

In recent years, Geldof has been well known for his charity work and contribution in human rights activities, with his latest effort being for a concert in Sydney to raise money for victims of natural disasters.

What does it feel like in depression?

Many people like in depression may not feel the symptoms like these, but in general according to research a person during depression feels following symptoms,

  • lose of your self-confidence
  • Feel useless, inadequate and hopelessness.
  • avoid the people and relationships
  • feel irritable and miserable
  • feel worse at a particular time each day, usually in the morning
  • think of suicide
  • feel utterly tired
  • feel restless and agitated
  • lose appetite and weight (some people find they do the reverse and put on weight)
  • Sleeplessness, restlessness and unable to take rest properly.
  • lose interest in sex
  • feel unhappy most of the time (but may feel a little better in the evenings)
  • lose interest in life and can’t enjoy anything
  • find it harder to make decisions
  • Can’t cope with depression and things you used to be.

You may not realize the struggle if it has come on gradually. Person during starting of depression may try to struggle on and may even start to blame himself for being lazy or lacking willpower. The question is why this happens to our life, there are certainly obvious reasons for depression.

It is normal to feel depressed after a distressing or unhappy event – bereavement, a divorce or losing a job. You may well spend a lot of time over the next few weeks or months thinking and talking about it.

Similarly when you are alone, having no work to do, no friends and family than more likely to say you will suffer from depression. The physical illness can affect the brain works and cause depression, which including life threatening diseases like cancer and heart diseases, long time and painful illnesses, like arthritis, hormonal problems etc

Similarly using large quantity of alcohol, similar if compared gender based women are more depressed due to their physical nature and psychological changes then man.

Helping for to deal with depression

  1. Don’t keep it to yourself.
  2. Do something, go out for exercise and experience the people and environment around you.
  3. Eat well.
  4. Beware don’t use the alcohol as it creates more depression and addict of it.
  5. While cannabis can help you to relax, there is now evidence that regular use good, they cause depression in teens.
  6. Tackle the cause
  7. Keep hopeful
  8. Pass time with close people,get busy with friends and relations.
